Open House Session For UIC Department

Archita

University Institute of Computing: The UIC department conducted an open house session for  2nd and 3rd year students of BCA and BSC, addressing various doubts and issues in the auditorium of Academic block C2 on 1st march . The queries were answered by Pro-Vice chancelor and HOD of UIC department Ms Manisha Malhotra.

The hall was filled with students and their questions as the academic block recently shifted from block d4 to c2, resulting in a lot of schedule issues. There was a lot of queries regarding ill management of classes as there are long breaks between classes, which students can utilise in much productive manner if classes were continuous. The query was not properly addressed as the pro-vice chancelor asked students to visit  libraries during breaks, but since there is only central lib available and there are a lot of students, compared to the capacity of library.

A lot of questions were answered this way, there was a student who asked why we are having classes at 2 pm as it will be more productive and better suited if it starts in the morning. To this Sir answered "we are adapting corporate work life culture, also there is no specific time for learning".Which is true but schools and colleges start in the morning because we retain most knowledge in the morning hours also it is much easier to schedule everything if classes are in the morning.

There were also some queries about Clubs , hackathons and making connection s  between senior and junior students. Those were answered efficiently. Also there were announcements about our branch library set up and there will be 5G wifi network for the students who have to attend classes online for open elective. The students were most happy about the news that there is no longer need to submit their worksheets offline in handwritten practical files. But some students also felt  if they are having offline exams then they should practice writting more . Overall the session was informative and students got a wider and clear image of what we have to look out for and how to manage our schedule accordingly.
