Memoir writing

I can still recall the happiest moment of my life, the day I went home to visit my parents after three long months. My parents reside in Pathankot, a five-hour journey from my college. While the distance is not too far, I am not fond of traveling, and hence, I do not visit my parents frequently. However, this visit was different; it was for my older brother's birthday, and I had been eagerly waiting for it.

Unfortunately, I couldn't reach on his birthday, which was on the 6th of April, as I had college. But that did not dampen my excitement in the slightest. My family is not into grand celebrations or big parties, so we planned a small gathering with just our nuclear family. I was ecstatic to be reunited with them after three long months of being away.

Coming home after such a long time was an incredible feeling. All my cravings, especially for dosas, were satisfied, and I cooked up a storm in the kitchen because I love to cook. Our family dog, Leo, was overjoyed to see me after such a long time, and we all enjoyed quality time together.

Celebrating my brother's birthday was the highlight of the trip. I gifted him a beautiful kada, and it fit him perfectly, which was a relief. I recreated a childhood memory of ours, where he was riding a bicycle, and I was sitting behind him. I added a few more pictures to it and made it into a greeting card, which my mother loved more than the birthday boy, as she got emotional at the end.

It was a perfect weekend, and I was pampered with shopping and sweets, which I love. Despite the motion sickness and six-hour travel, it was worth it, and I was grateful for the much-needed break. I cherish the memories of that weekend and look forward to the next time I can go home and spend time with my family.
